Welcome to SmartCustomer! This guide will walk you through the essential setup steps so you can begin collecting reviews and managing customer feedback right away.

Step 1: Complete Your Account Settings
Before you begin collecting reviews, configure a few basic account settings.
Add your support email
Navigate to Settings → Manage Email Settings and enter:
- Reply-to email
- Support email
This ensures customers can contact the correct team when responding to review requests.

Enable the Order ID feature
If you use order numbers, invoice numbers, or customer IDs, enable the Order ID field.
This lets you associate reviews with specific orders, making it easier to identify and assist customers.
We recommend using a customer-facing identifier, such as:
- Order Number
- Invoice Number
- Customer Email Address

Step 2: Choose How You'll Collect Reviews
SmartCustomer offers several review collection methods. You can use one or combine multiple methods depending on your workflow.
Bulk Collection
Bulk Collection is ideal if you already have a list of past customers you'd like to invite to leave a review. Upload a CSV file containing your customer information, select the email template you'd like to use, and SmartCustomer will automatically send review requests based on the dates in your file.
- Upload a CSV containing your customer list.
- Select an email template.
- Choose a reminder template.
- Upload your file.

Automated Requests
Best for automatically sending review requests after every purchase.
Setup consists of:
- Adding the provided email to the BCC field of your order confirmation or shipping notification emails
- Confirming required order information is included
- Selecting your email templates
- Running a test
Once configured, review requests are sent automatically after future purchases.

Feedback Link
Need a shareable review link?
Use the Feedback Link to:
- Add to your website
- Share via email
- Include in SMS campaigns
- Add to QR codes
Advanced URL parameters allow you to prefill customer information.

Instant Feedback Survey
Collect customer feedback immediately after checkout.
You can customize:
- Branding
- Questions
- Colors
- Logo
- Layout
Use the live preview to see your changes before publishing.

Step 3: Customize Your Review Requests
Once you've chosen your collection method, customize the customer experience.
Review Request Settings
Configure:
- Email delay
- Reminder delay
- Specific sending days and times
- Email reminders
These settings determine when customers receive email review invitations.

Customize Email Templates
Personalize:
- Review Survey email
- Order Confirmation email
You can update:
- Subject line
- Sender name
- Branding
- Messaging
Preview each email before saving.
Step 4: Customize Your Surveys
Your survey pages are fully customizable.
You can edit:
- Survey title
- Questions
- Rating prompts
- Branding
- Colors
- Logos
Tailor the survey to match your brand and gather the feedback most valuable to your business.

Step 5: Start Managing Reviews
Once reviews begin arriving, SmartCustomer provides several tools to help you engage with customers.
Resolution Window
Enable the Resolution Window to temporarily hold new reviews for 10 days before they are published.
This gives your team time to contact customers and resolve issues privately before reviews appear publicly.

Respond to Reviews
For each review, you can:
- Send a Private Message
- Add a Public Comment
We recommend responding to every review, including positive ones, to demonstrate engagement.

Use AI Response Tools
AI can help you:
- Generate public responses
- Draft private messages
- Create reusable response templates
- Automate review responses
You can review AI-generated content before publishing or enable automatic responses.

Customer Messages
Manage all customer conversations from one place, including:
- Inbox
- Resolutions
- Sent Messages
- Trash
This makes it easy to track ongoing customer conversations.
